What the dashboard means
Services begin with provider-wide coverage. Settings can narrow coverage to specific components or regions where the provider exposes them. Unmapped incidents retain provider-wide context. “Unconfirmed” means the source is unavailable, data is stale, selected component data is missing, or the provider offers an update feed rather than a complete health report. Select a service for its official status page.
Integration health reports collection failures separately from incidents. Observation history retains 30 days of provider-wide measurements from this version's deployment, independent of component selections. Operational share excludes unknown periods; coverage reports how much of the requested period has confirmed observations. Missing data is never assumed operational. These are observed state durations, not official incident durations or an SLA.
Your location and preferences
Signal uses the approximate location Cloudflare associates with your connection. A saved city takes precedence. Device location is requested only when you choose it. If IP location is unavailable, the dashboard explicitly defaults to Providence, Rhode Island. A VPN or ISP routing can affect IP accuracy. The location dialog lets you reset to IP location.
Manual city, favorites, theme, station, volume, layout, service/component choices and alert preferences stay in browser storage. Coordinates are rounded to two decimal places before being sent to this application, Open-Meteo and the National Weather Service. Signal does not store your IP address or precise device location in its status database. Cloudflare and upstream providers process requests under their own policies.
Forecasts, not observations
The current-weather card and daily/hourly outlook use Open-Meteo's best-match forecast. The AI comparison explicitly requests ECMWF AIFS and NOAA AIGFS. Missing models are shown as unavailable. Two-model disagreement is not a calibrated confidence interval. Hourly series may be interpolated. Provider-run metadata is eventually consistent; seamless forecasts may contain points from different runs. NWS provides official alerts where available. Optional marine data describes the displayed sea grid and is not a tide or navigation forecast.

Notifications and live updates
Notifications are off until you enable them and grant browser permission. Severity, recovery notices and quiet hours are configurable. Quiet hours use this device's timezone; equal start and end times silence the entire day. Initial observations, unknown states and synthetic preview data do not trigger alerts. Settings changes reset the notification baseline. Notification deduplication records expire after 24 hours.
Notifications require the app to remain open; closed-browser push is not supported. Browser and operating-system background restrictions may delay or prevent delivery. Enabled notifications keep the shared connection active in background tabs where possible. Other hidden tabs pause. If the live connection fails, a connected visible client checks one shared status snapshot per minute.
Radio and connection
Radio starts only when you press play and streams directly from the broadcaster, which receives your connection information. Interrupted streams retry up to three times. Pause or changing stations cancels pending retries. Streams may be restricted by location; use the station link if playback fails. Now-playing metadata is optional.
The connection check measures HTTP round-trip time to this dashboard, including server processing. It is not a speed test, traceroute, or DNS-resolver detection.
